Why Clemmons? The story

The Village of Clemmons is a growing community located between Winston-Salem and the Yadkin River. Clemmons prides itself on being called a “Village.” This captures the life people here crave: community, connection, and intimacy—while still being within easy reach of the city of Winston-Salem.

Once a sleepy rural farming community, Clemmons has transformed into a bustling suburb since the 1980s—and that pace hasn’t slowed. With convenient access to downtown Winston-Salem, development has skyrocketed in recent years, with both housing and commercial growth keeping pace with the steady rise in population. The Village of Clemmons is the beating heart of the broader Winston-Salem suburbs, which includes Lewisville (north), Advance/Bermuda Run (west), and the northern Davidson County (south).

All these facts raise an important question: why plant a new church in Clemmons? We believe the Village of Clemmons needs more gospel-centered churches to reach its growing population which is projected to increase significantly over the next decade. We are compelled by church plants often reaching the unchurched more effectively than many established churches. We also believe the suburban dream often hides a fallen reality: many run to the suburbs seeking a better life, only to find themselves isolated, lonely, and disconnected despite the promises the suburbs offer. What the world offers is like saltwater—it appears life-giving, but it doesn't quench thirst.

What does the good news of Jesus — and a church community shaped by it — bring to a place like Clemmons? Flourishing life the way God intends for people made in his image: forgiveness and rest; true friendship and community; a deep purpose in life; relationships and families shaped by love; a heart for the spiritually lost and the needy. We want to be part of proclaiming, resting in, and building a community shaped by the good news of Jesus in our Village.

Village Pres is in the beginning stages of planting. We are currently worshiping together at sister PCA churches and gathering on select Sunday evenings for prayer and training. For more information about how to get involved, see Get Involved or Contact Us.
