and Leadership

Ben Tietje -

Planting Pastor

Ben was called as the church planter for Village Presbyterian in 2025 after he and his wife, Leigha, were given a full recommendation to plant from the PCA Mission to North America Planters’ Assessment, and New Hope PCA voted to “re-plant.”

Ben grew up in many places, but considers both Western NC (where he grew up during High School) and the Triad region “home.” He attended UNC-Greensboro (BS, ‘11), completed his theological training at Reformed Theological Seminary - Charlotte (M.Div, ‘18), and served his pastoral internship at Christ Church Greensboro PCA. He had the privilege of taking part of an Anago Partners Fellowship (‘23) where he received pastoral and leadership assessments, training, and coaching. Most recently, Ben served for 8 years at New Hope PCA as an assistant, associate, and then as senior pastor. Ben and Leigha are the parents of three daughters.

Matthew Hutchens -

Assistant Planting Pastor

Matthew was called to serve as Village Presbyterian’s Assistant Planting Pastor in 2025 after serving as Assistant Pastor at New Hope PCA since 2023, where he helped lead the church through the Flourish Church Health Assessment process. He also serves on the Piedmont Triad Presbytery’s Church Planting & Missions Committee.

Matthew graduated with a B.S. in Christian Ministry from Piedmont International University (‘18) and received his theological training at Beeson Divinity School (M.Div, ‘23). During his time at Beeson, Matthew completed his PCA internship and served on staff at Oak Mountain Presbyterian Church (PCA) in Birmingham, AL. At Oak Mountain, Matthew and his family experienced the richness of a grace centered, missional, Presbyterian church. Matthew is married to Allie, and they are proud parents of two boys.

  • Duncan Maysilles (Ruling Elder - Redeemer Presbyterian)

  • Ethan Smith (Teaching Elder - Associate Pastor - Hope Presbyterian)
